Keep more of what you earn

The wealthy rarely sell what they own to fund their lives. They build assets that grow quietly, and borrow against them. You can do the same.

The challenge

Most savings sit in accounts that are taxed every year, or in retirement accounts that are taxed in full when you take the money out. Every withdrawal can raise your tax bracket, and in retirement it can make more of your Social Security taxable.

The strategy

Build a reserve you control: one that grows without an annual tax bill, can be accessed through loans instead of taxable withdrawals, and passes to your family when you are gone. Mark calls it a family bank, and it sits at the center of the Buy, Borrow, Die strategy he teaches.

How it works

The tool is a properly designed Indexed Universal Life (IUL) policy. Its cash value grows tax-deferred, with a floor that protects it in down markets, and can be accessed through policy loans, which are generally not taxable income when the policy is structured and managed correctly.

Design is everything. Funding level, death benefit structure and loan strategy decide whether a policy works as a reserve or simply as an expensive one.

Already have a policy?

Many people pay into a policy for years without knowing what it really does. We review what you pay, the costs, caps and floors inside it, and whether it still fits your plan. Sometimes the best advice is to keep it exactly as it is.
